Without any shadow of doubt in the minds, we all believe this life to be full of vicissitudes; in fact, some consider it a Pandora’s box similitude. And yes, the birth of a man is not enough to ascertain his success or failure, as all that was written for him whilst he was in his mother’s uterus was vagarious. This life is like a circuit; different wires, connected together, make it work. This means an incident takes flight from another. Success and failure take their share, too.
Gaining admission to a prestigious institution is the dream of every secondary school leaver, and it doesn’t take shenanigans to be admitted to one of its kind—Obafemi Awolowo University, the Africa’s most beautiful campus.
Answering as a student of this great institution is indeed a reflection and a reward of one’s relentless efforts and trials, and one deserves to be treated to a lot of luscious baskets of kudos.
Saturday, October 14, 2023, was a remarkable day that would forever remain evergreen in the hearts of the students who, in a resplendent triumph, won over the daunting, daring cutoff marks of their various departments. The happiness could be clearly seen on their faces as they proudly wore it like mask, trooping into the school from every nook and corner of the country.
The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, Obafemi Awolowo University, MSSNOAU, as a body representing the generality of Muslim students in the institution, played a commendable and unforgettable role in the reception of the freshmen, as It’s always been her custom. Buses were dispersed to convey the freshmen from the institution’s main gate to their respective halls of residence, which I believe, most, if not all, of the “JJCs” would be unfamiliar with.
MSSNOAU also assisted in printing all the documents necessary for different registrations. It was indeed a splendorous reception as the radiance on the parents’ faces, as well as their wards, could be seen illuminating the horizon.
One of the parents, Alhaji Hameed Mas’ud, when interviewed, made some remarks, as to his experience encompassing the welcoming gesture expended by MSSNOAU. In his statement, he said, “truly, the Muslim brotherhood is a mighty one as Allah stated in Suurat- Al-Hujuraat, and I am really glad for the warmth reception we received. It was superb!” He, while addressing the issues on accomodations on campus, said, “I will have to say that I am distressed as regards the porter’s approach to the freshmen during registration. The management will have to give more time for freshmen to get along…” He concluded by praying for his ward, the freshmen, and the management.
Also, a freshman, Bro. AbdulGaniyy Tawfiq, of the department of Yorùbá and African languages, said, “…this is indeed a request granted for me. Joining the studentship of this great school (which I assumed to be GREAT IFE in his beautiful heart) has ever been my dream, and this, indeed, is a dream come true for me. I also appreciate MSSNOAU for the hospitality and assistance given to us. Yes, I am grateful.”
A freshman of the Department of Geology, Bro. Uthman Akintomide, also remarked, “first, I thank Almighty Allah for His favor upon me, upon my parents. I also appreciate the MSSN members for their prepared readiness and unwavering support to make our first day, here, as students easy as it comes. And I pray for the best.” He also joked (in the background) about the academic state of Geology students.
Sis. Abidat Bamigbade, a freshman of International relation, also expressed her thoughts. She stated that she was excited that she finally became a student of the most prestigious institution in West Africa which, of course, doubles as the Most beautiful campus on this continent, Africa.
In general, the welcoming event which came to an end yesterday, 16 October 2023, was indeed a success. The captivating countenance worn by everyone was the major pointer to this declaration. The MSSN body had, once again, proved to the world what she aims at: seeing to the welfarism of the Muslim students on campus. The backdrop of appreciation showered on her members in the setup was a testament to that, too. We beseech Allah not to forsake the entirety of MSSN members for a blink of an eye and to protect them from all evil. May the synergy that uphold the association never crumble. Aameen!
