Have you been given any power above your peers? Are you in control of something and have a lot of people under you? Then this is for you:
How well are you treating those people Allāh put under you? Are you showing someone love or looking down on them? Are you still behaving like you own the world, or putting yourself at their level to know we are all equal before Allāh?
Power is delicate; its true test comes when Allāh puts someone in a position. If they remain humble and empathetic, it’s a sign of genuine character.
I have seen a lot of leaders who inspire me to keep striving—one who loves their people more than themselves, one who puts those around them first before anything. I often hear some people say, “In anything you do, your self-love should be the first.” But in a position where you’ve been bestowed power, you need to leave a long-lasting impression in the hearts of those you are serving.
Oh you who treat people badly or make them feel unwanted, tomorrow is unknown. The person you mistreat might be the one who will talk, and you will later be respected. The two creatures you should fear in life are children and someone who is poor. Allāh can change everything within a blink of an eye. Remember, what goes around comes around.
I know some are ungrateful, but in all, you do things to earn a reward from only Allāh. When you do things, don’t expect anything in return; too much expectation brings pain. Serve with a pure heart, seeking divine approval alone.
